HMF Bank Suey Stage

Bank Suey is one of 25 venues for the 2016 Hamtramck Music Festival. The Bank Suey stage will be all ages, and free, our stage is focused on both global and interactive programming! 

 


Friday March 4th
5:30p- Welcome to Bank Suey: Stop by our open house to check out the building and share your stories.
7:45p- Tahnz & The Filthy Animals: A neo-soul rock group that formed in 2015 with the sole purpose of continuously creating and experimenting with the vast spectrum of music via their instrumental finesse. 
9:00p- Barbarossa Brothers: MI-bred bayou folk rock. As friends and musical collaborators for the past decade, all three members have cut their teeth together as well as with other acts around the state. For the past three years, Barbarossa Brothers have been improving on their own sound, and stretching their legs further around the state and the region.

Saturday March 5th
12:00p- Welcome to Bank Suey: Stop by our open house to check out the building and share your stories.
1:00p- Sean Blackman ~ In Transit: Solo performance and talk by Sean Blackman. In Transit focuses on collaboration between multi-ethnic ensembles to weave a common thread through musical history that has influenced one another over time. Tearing down the brick and mortar of diversity raises global awareness of human similarities and brings us all closer together.
2:00p- Flaquito Hernandez: Using samples from X to X, Blair Arbaugh will perform and talk about how synthesizers and electronic music works.  
3:15p- Tabcat Detroit: Come and enjoy Brazilian Folkloric Dance Capoeira, drumming and a community workshop on Capoeira and music. 
4:30p- Bangla School of Music: BSM was established in 1996 by Akram Hossain to promote Bangla Music in the USA, especially in Michigan. BSM practices at nearby Detroit-located Play House, and takes pride in teaching Bengali culture to our next generation.     
6:15p-Klezmer DetrOYt: Putting the "OY!" back in Detroit, The newly formed band evolved out of serendipitous meetings, word of mouth, and a mutual desire to make traditional Yiddish music a regular presence in the Motor City. They bring a fresh approach to this timeless music while maintaining a commitment to authenticity. Also seriously committed to having fun, their infectious energy will make you want to get up and dance!  
7:30p- Stella's Ghost: Stella's Ghost is a Greek folk band fulfilling a Greek folk band need in Southeast Michigan. 
8:30p- Ornâmatik: Ornamatik fuses Motown Soul and Backbeat Funk with the old world magic of Balkan music and dance. Providing a great sonic space for fans to dance the traditional dances as well as those who just want to boogie down on the dance floor in their own way.

The third annual Hamtramck Music Festival will be taking place March 3rd-6th across 25 Hamtramck Venues and featuring over 200 local bands. A $10 wristband gets you full access to all the festival offers! Free transportation will be available to shuttle you around town. Food trucks will be present to keep you full of goodness. All proceeds from the festival benefit Ben's Encore, a local non-profit charity who provides music, lessons, instruments, scholarships, and more to underprivileged kids and school music programs. Last year, HMF raised over $10,000 for Ben's Encore.
