Potluck & Article Club: How Do We Keep Cities Affordable?

Hosted by Muslim-Jewish Forum of Detroit

"You are all invited to our first article club (rather than book club) and facilitated discussion. I think for many people involved in the forum, the topic of urban revival and how can we keep major cities like Detroit affordable, inclusive, and desegregated is one that is near and dear to our hearts. It's a layered issue but a recent popular topic regarding addressing the issue has been proposing mixed-income housing in large cities across America. It's been met with mixed reception, so let's have a potluck, read an article from the Metro Times about the issue, and have a facilitated discussion!
The event is free with a $5 suggested donation to cover the amenities of the wonderful event venue, Bank Suey. Coffee and tea will be provided, but also feel free to bring a dish to share!
Here is a link to the article: https://www.metrotimes.com/detroit/community-advocates-warn-of-affordability-crisis-as-city-eyes-mixed-income-housing-ordinance/Content?oid=3784652
If possible, please read it ahead of time (it's not too long) but we will also give people some time to read it at the beginning of the event and there will be some paper copies of the article provided.
